movie review

ok.  i just got back from seeing the movie Twilight. (12 girls from church went to see it together!)  i've been anxiously awaiting this film....sort of.  i was unsure about seeing it because i already had the story played out perfectly in my mind.  i knew what all the characters looked like, so i didn't know if hollywood could do as good a job as my imagination did.  but at the same time, i wanted to see if the movie was anywhere near as wonderful as the book!!!  does that make any sense???

so here's my review:

out of 5 stars, i'd give it 3.  if i hadn't read the book, i would have thought of this as a low budget, amateur film.  maybe that's how the director meant for it to come across.  i don't know.  i know they couldn't put everything from the book into the movie, but i did feel like they didn't develop the characters enough.  there were some details that should have been added to help understand the characters a little better...like jasper.  if you didn't know that jasper had the hardest time controlling himself around bella, then you would think he was pretty stupid standing there looking all crazy!

edward...i went in not liking the actor that was chosen to play him.  i've never seen him in harry potter, so that wasn't why.  edward was described as beautiful and dangerous, and this guy just didn't seem very beautiful to me.

but the longer i watched the film, the more i liked edward.  he was very handsome in the candlelight at the restaurant.  since my mom and mother-in-law read this, i can't say he was sexy in parts, so i'll say he was very alluring.  that sounds better, doesn't it?  so i'd give edward 4 stars.

now jacob....he's not what i expected at all!  i thought he'd be much more handsome AND have his hair pulled back in pony tail!  ick on the hair!  i'm just not a long-hair-on-guys kind of girl.

what was really cool, though, is that both bella's house and the cullen house (on the outside) were exactly what i had pictured in my mind!

overall it was an ok movie.   i wouldn't pay full price to see it again (unlike the lady in front of me who was seeing it for the 13th time!  geez louise!).  i will definitely go see the next movie, though.

ok. i agree on Jacob...he wasnt what i expected and in fact i was a little disapointed as far as he goes just because i HATE long hair on guys too...HOWEVER, picture him in the next film all bulked up and huge and trimmed hair?.....as you would say ....VERY "alluring"....

IF he is bulked up and has shorter hair, then yes, he'll be much better!!!

I agree, it was a bit of a let-down. I had not thought much about the character development, because they were all fully developed in my mind from the book.... duh, Lisa! Anyway, it was BIG fun to go with all the girls. Next time we need to add dinner to the mix. :o) Lisa H.

Yes, and we need to get to the theater early enough so we can all sit together!
