moses

have you ever had one of those days where everything just seems to come to a head?  that happened to me today.  i've known all along that grades, report cards, benchmark tests and parent-teacher conferences were coming up soon, but today.....it hit me that all of that is right here, right now!  i suddenly felt overwhelmed and stressed.  i almost feel like i need a day off from school to get my school work done!

so this afternoon's guest reader was a nice little refresher that i needed.  for some reason i signed up to host one of the tulsa 66er's basketball players in my room for read across america. i haven't taught reading in two years, so i don't know what possessed me to volunteer.  i guess i just figured it would be a neat experience for the kids.  it turned out to be a great experience for the kids and the teacher!

moses, a 6'5" man came to our room not knowing what was in store for him!  we gave him the book piggie pie to read.  he'd never read it and neither had i, so we didn't know what to expect. but he was great!!!  he laughed as he read and he even had the kids singing in some parts!  i was laughing out loud!  after he read he answered a few questions.  we found out that he has 4 siblings and all of them have biblical names....his sister is named zipporah!  he said he even has cousins named shadrach, meshach and abednego!  i didn't believe him, but he swears it's true!  i also found out that he went to school in mansfield, tx!!! how cool is that?  that's where i went to school until 9th grade!  what a small world.

so thanks for making me smile today, moses!  i needed it.

Wow Ames, Moses really turned your day around! Sounds like you needed something to distract you. I missed your email today.

I'm with you, I'm not really sure how it got to be March already and I'm staring down two scrapbook classes to create & teach, the final yearbook deadline and family visiting during Spring Break and Chet's birthday. Guess I better plan something for that! ;) Somehow we'll all get our stuff done I suppose but it sure will be nice when it's over!
